Privacy Policy

Information Collection and Use

Choppy ("we", "our", or "the app") collects only the information needed to operate the pilot logbook on your behalf — your account credentials (managed via your chosen sign-in provider), the flight, aircraft and crew records you create, and basic device information used to keep your data in sync across devices. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

Third Party Access

To deliver Choppy we rely on a small set of third-party providers. They have access only to information needed to perform their function and are bound by their own privacy commitments:

• Supabase — authentication and encrypted database hosting.
• RevenueCat — subscription management.
• Mapbox — maps and airport tiles.
• Google and Apple — sign-in and (optionally) calendar sync.
• OpenRouter — AI processing for imports and NOTAM summaries (see below).
• PostHog — product analytics and session recordings used to improve the app. Names, email addresses, phone numbers, employee IDs and signatures are masked in recordings.
• Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications.

AI Processing

Some features use AI models to read documents for you: importing a logbook file or an airline roster, scanning paper logbook pages with the camera, filling in aircraft details from a registration, and summarising NOTAMs. When you use one of these features, the file, photos or text involved are sent to OpenRouter, which passes them to the AI model provider that processes the request (currently OpenAI and Google). This content can include the names of crew members that appear in your documents.

The content is used only to produce the result you asked for, such as the list of flights shown for your review before anything is saved. We only route these requests to providers that do not use the content to train their models. The uploaded file itself is stored with the import in your Choppy account so you can check the extracted flights against it.

Connected AI Assistants

If you choose to connect an AI assistant you use (such as Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini) to Choppy, you sign in and approve that connection yourself. From then on, that assistant can read and change your logbook on your behalf — flights, aircraft, crew, preferences and documents — when you ask it to. What the assistant does with that information is governed by its provider's terms and privacy policy, not ours. You can see and disconnect connected assistants at any time in Settings → Data → Connectors, which revokes their access immediately.

Opt-Out Rights

You can request to export or delete your account and associated logbook data at any time by emailing support@choppy-app.com. We respond within 30 days.

Data Retention

Your logbook is retained as long as your account is active. After you delete your account, your records are removed from our active systems within 30 days and from backups within 90 days.

Children

Choppy is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect data from, anyone under 13 years of age.

Security

Data is transmitted over TLS and stored encrypted at rest. We follow industry best-practices but no system is perfectly secure — please report any concerns to support@choppy-app.com.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app and reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
